Die casting foundry

The die casting foundry specialises in production of aluminium alloy castings produced to the requirements of customers into metal moulds. The casting into moulds can be done by gravitational method or low-pressure method with the possibility of utilising sand cores.

Engineering

The engineering department designs castings and casting toolings in the 3D program SOLIDWORKS with the support of the modern simulation program MAGMASOFT®, which is used to verify the casting design and casting technology and also predicts possible defects in the casting. We offer cooperation with the customer in the stage of design, streamlining and optimisation of the final solution including the proposal of ideal aluminium alloy - a beneficial service to our customers. When designing the casting equipment, we use computer simulation of the casting process and of the solidification of the molten material. We can also provide a proposal of solution of transition to aluminium alloy from a different material (such as wrought material, iron etc.).

Casting

Casting products weighing up to 20 kg are cast by utilising the gravitational method on the CGU and CGH machines. Casting products weighing up to 5 kg are cast in individual stands with hydraulic control of mould opening. Low-pressure machines CNS are used for casting complex products. The casting process includes thermal and spectrum analysis which monitors the parameters of the molten material and the temperature of the casting equipment and the molten material. We produce for a wide range of industries such as electrical engineering, machinery, food industry, ship-building industry and traffic systems.

Weight range:

  1. Products cast by utilising the gravitational technology into metal moulds - approx. product weights from 0.1 kg to 20 kg.
  2. Products cast by utilising the low-pressure technology into metal moulds - approx. product weights from 1 kg to 50 kg.

The annual capacity of the die casting foundry is approx 1500 t of castings/year.

For the above specified technologies, we provide production of cores by blast-shooting CT method with binders based on geopolymers or water glass.

Finishing operations

  1. Trimming and grinding of gatings and risers  - newly with grinding machine Koyama
  2. Blasting with chrome steel stainless granulate and corundum mixture.
  3. Pressurizing of castings up to max. pressure of 6 bar.
  4. Heat treatment T4, T6.
  5. Assemblies according to customer specifications.
  6. In cooperation, we offer the following surface treatment based on customer specifications - protection against corrosion, powdered surface finish, anodizing etc.

We can also offer processing of other aluminium alloys.

Melting is carried out in gas crucible furnaces. The treatment of molten aluminium is routinely done by means of FDU degassing units. The quality of the molten material is evaluated by means of spectrum analysis and by devices measuring the level of molten material gasification.
